History of Cardinal Mindszenty Foundation
Since 1974, CMF has continued to publish its monthly newsletter, the Mindszenty Report, and has sponsored a variety of U.S.-based speaker conferences and radio programs on numerous topics including the continuing human misery caused by communist and socialist ideologies, the importance of the traditional family, law and order, the evil of abortion, the persecution of Christians, Islamic fanaticism, and trends in education, politics, public policy and the Catholic Church. The collapse of the Soviet Union and the fall of the Berlin Wall in the late 1980s represented a dream come true for our founders. In 2008 we celebrated the 50th anniversary of our founding with a festive dinner and a handsome commemorative booklet (available for purchase here), from which selected pages about CMF's history are reproduced above.
In early 2019 we were thrilled that Cardinal Mindszenty was designated "Venerable" by the Catholic Church, putting him on a path to possible canonization. Since 2019 we have brought a distinguished speaker series to St. Mary of Victories and St. Stephen of Hungary Chapel in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. In the 2020s we find that our educational work is needed as much as ever. Please join our effort to bring our message to new generations.
Since 2012, the Cardinal Mindszenty Foundation has been led by Eleanor Schlafly's niece Liza Forshaw. Mrs. Forshaw was honored for her service by a Gold Cross of Merit from the nation of Hungary on April 12, 2023. A photo and video of the award ceremony are found here.
